NORFOLK, Va. - Virginia Senator Mark Warner says he's disappointed the Commonwealth still doesn't have an adequate number of COVID-19 coronavirus testing kits.

Warner made the remarks during a briefing with reporters Tuesday morning. At that time, there were 67 confirmed cases in Virginia, with the number expected to grow.

An earlier briefing with Virginia health officials indicated that 300-400 tests were available, with more coming Tuesday that should double availability.

Senator Warner says he's been in touch with CEOs of companies in the gig economy such as Uber, Lyft, DoorDash and others to offer up to 14 days of paid sick leave to workers.

He's also working on a disaster-level unemployment relief that offers broader relief, applying to independent contractors, gig workers and others with multiple income streams.

Senator Warner stressed that he wants the majority of any relief dollars passed by Congress to go to impacted workers.
