Virginia Department of Elections addresses third-party absentee ballot applications concerns

RICHMOND, Va. - The Virginia Department of Elections notifies residents of a recently mailed absentee ballot applications from an organization that the department has no affiliation to.

The Virginia Department of Elections says they have no affiliation with the Center for Voter Information nor coordinates with any third party groups on campaign efforts.

Voters in multiple cities received an absentee ballot application with pre-paid return envelopes addressed to the incorrect registrar’s office, Virginia Department of Elections says.

The Virginia Department of Elections encourages all voters that would like to receive an absentee ballot for the November election to apply online..

Officials say any applications that arrive in the wrong locality's office will be forwarded immediately to the correct office for processing.

The first day that absentee ballots will be mailed is September 18.
