VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. - The City of Virginia Beach has provided an Election Day update as the voting deadline approaches in the Commonwealth.
As of 5 p.m., there have been a total of 86,700 votes. There is a total of 322,931 registered voters in the city.
74,056 voters voted early and 54,550 early mail-in voted have been pre-processed as of 4:30 p.m.
City officials say the tally will begin after 7 p.m.
City officials say a video of someone burning ballots are not official ballots which have bar codes.
Officials say the ballots in the video were sample ballots and the incident is currently under investigation.
According to their 5 p.m. update, wait times at polls are minimal and no other issues have been reported.
