VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. - An employee with the Virginia Beach Fire Department is in critical condition after being hit by a truck Tuesday afternoon.
A spokesperson with the City of Virginia Beach said the crash happened while the employee was walking along Rudee Point Road after leaving the location where he had been working on a project.
While the names of victims would ordinarily not be released in these circumstances, the spokesperson said the employee's family gave the city permission to confirm that the victim is Virginia Beach Fire Department Public Information Officer Art Kohn.
Kohn is currently in critical condition and is "receiving the best possible care" and they are hoping for a full recovery.
The crash is currently under investigation.
