CHESAPEAKE, Va. - Hard to believe we're already halfway through October!

There's still time to pick out the perfect pumpkin.

Reporter Anthony Sabella was in Chesapeake on Thursday morning, with a spot where you can pick your own right from the patch - just down Battlefield Boulevard in Hickory Ridge Farm.

The farm is known for strawberries in the spring and summer, but in the fall, it's all about pumpkins. And something that's different this year, you can grab bags of produce.

When the pandemic hit, the farm started filling up bags of different locally-sourced fruits and vegetables, and people could drive up and have it delivered right to their car.

When we were last hear in the spring, the owners told us that the event had been a huge success and when asking farm owner Robin Pierce how the pandemic has affected business thus far, she explained that people are coming because they are in need of some fun!

"Well we started our season earlier because of the pandemic with the produce grab bags. Then we rolled into strawberry season, had a great summer produce season, and now we're in pumpkins. So we've been busy because people are looking for something they can do outdoors, something to make them happy, something fun."

Their U-Pick Pumpkins have been in for weeks now, but the farm is still working to get people out.

Hickory Ridge has the big orange pumpkins, but also a number of varieties of sizes and different colors like white, gray, even pink.

If you'd like to keep up with events happening at the farm, you can follow their Facebook page! They have beautiful flowers and other wonderful events taking place all year round. Click here to be taken to their page.
