Transportation Security Administration (TSA) screened the most people at checkpoints on Sunday since travel numbers declined due to the coronavirus pandemic.

A TSA spokesperson tweeted and said they screened 1,047,934 people nationwide at security checkpoints on Sunday, ahead of the Thanksgiving holiday.

She said this was the highest number screened since the steep decline seen during the pandemic.

Sunday also marked the second time in three days that checkpoint volume passed one million people.

Numbers of people screened got as low as 87,534 people on April 14, according to the TSA website.
