NORFOLK, Va. - Tuesday morning, Greg Peterman is working hard, getting bagels in and out of the oven for a 6 a.m. opening.
It's been that way for 15 years and a pandemic isn't changing that.
The owner of Yorgo's Bageldashery in Norfolk's Ghent area says he has his regulars and hard-working employees to thank for that.
"It's been a long run. The first few months were shaky. We never knew what was going to be coming in the door every day," said Peterman.
It's now September and the dining room at Yorgo's is still cleared out for social distancing. On a table sits a basket of free bagel six-packs for anyone who needs them -- a giveaway that started in April.
But despite the challenges of COVID-19, Yorgo's is still thinking big. Well, bigger.
After a long delay due to the pandemic, his plan to expand the bagel shop is back on.
"Everyone is pulling together and making it all happen for us," he said.
Yorgo's is open seven days a week, starting at 6 a.m. on weekdays.
