VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. - Japanese and American cuisine collide at a little place called Oishii Burger.

The fusion restaurant opened in 2019 on Princess Anne Road near Salem Road -- the result of a four-year partnership between Paolo Vergara and Andy Stofan, who also run a meal prep service; Swol Food.

'Oishii' means delicious in Japanese and is the standard for everything on the menu.

It starts with the burger that shares its name with the restaurant. The Oishii Burger is grass-fed beef, breaded in panko and deep-fried.

Vergara, who spent seven years in Japan as a child, came up with the idea in his kitchen and shared it with Stofan, according to the restaurant's website.

From there, the two developed a menu giving popular American foods like tacos and wings an East Asian spin.

Oishii Burger is located in Princess Anne Shoppes on Princess Anne Road and is open Tuesday through Sunday from 4-9 p.m. Check out the menu on the restaurant's Instagram page.
