VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. - Virginia State Police were able to finally end an 11 year search for a convicted sex offender, after a Virginia Beach resident tipped off police.
Police officials say a Virginia beach resident reached out to State Police last week about an individual who resembled a sex offender.
According to police, 48-year-old Christopher Chesser was last in compliance with the Virginia Sex Offender and Crimes Against Minors Registry requirements in 2009. Police have been searching for Chesser since then.
State Police followed up on tip and were able to locate Chesser.
Chesser was taken into custody without incident and charged for failing to register with state police and for a 2009 probation violation. He is being held at the Virginia Beach jail, according to officials.
