Senior Alert canceled after missing Loudoun Co. man found safe

The Senior Alert for Loudoun County man has been canceled.

The Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office was looking for Albert Vandegriek Jr., 89, who was last seen Monday at 12:45 p.m. on Providence Village Drive in Sterling.

Police say he is 6’ 2” with black eyes, and white hair. He was possibly wearing blue sweatpants, blue shoes, and a blue sweatshirt. According to officials, he was also possibly driving a white 2004 Subaru Outback wagon with Virginia plates: ZJ-2363. The vehicle has a wheelchair carrier on the back.

Vandegriek suffers from a cognitive impairment and his disappearance posed a credible threat to his health and safety, officials say.

State police said that Vandegriek was later found safe.
