Christmas is coming early for the local branch of a national nonprofit.
The Salvation Army of Hampton Roads kicked off its holiday Red Kettle Campaign Friday at Lynnhaven Mall in Virginia Beach.
The organization said more than 8,000 kids across its region need new clothes, hygiene items and new toys this Christmas.
