NORFOLK, Va. -- Restaurant Week is back in Downtown Norfolk.

The week-long promotion features 23 selected restaurants offering special deals to show you what they are all about and satisfy your taste cravings. The week begins Sunday, Jan. 17 and lasts until Sunday, Jan. 24.

Each featured restaurant caters to different cooking styles and may cater to only, or a mix of, breakfast, lunch and dinner.

The deals were normally for dine-in at the restaurants during prior years. Because of COVID-19, Jessica Kliner with Downtown Norfolk, the organization named after the section of the city it serves, said these restaurants will offer up new deals for ordering options that these businesses have adapted to because of the pandemic.

"What they haven't done before, but we started in the summer, is that many of the restaurants will offer their Restaurant Week menus for to-go,” Kliner said. “Many will deliver as well."

Restaurant Week is promoted by Downtown Norfolk to give these businesses some exposure. Some of the featured restaurants include Stockpot, 456 Fish, Grain and Major Phillie Cheesesteaks, among others.

Kliner added that just because Restaurant Week may have a designated week, doesn't mean visitors should just visit and support these restaurants only this week.

"We like to say every day is Takeout Tuesday, every week is Support Your Restaurant Week,” Kliner said. “Many times our restaurants independently decide that they want it to last for two weeks so when that happens we continue to promote what they're doing."
