PORTSMOUTH, Va. – Detectives with the Portsmouth Police are investigating a shooting incident that left two people, including a little girl, injured Tuesday.
Officials say they were notified about shots fired near Portsmouth Boulevard and Truxton Avenue around 2:25 p.m.
Shortly after the call, police say a juvenile female and a man were reported as walk-ins at a local hospital. Police say they suffered gunshot wounds to their upper bodies.
Police said later Tuesday night they believe both victims, said to be a 28-year-old man and a 7-year-old girl, were in separate vehicles when someone in a third car fired several shots at them.
The girl is currently in critical condition, officials say.
Detectives released photos of the suspect vehicle, which is described as a gold 1999 to early-2000s model Acura.
