NORFOLK, Va. — Hours after the vigil for Jahari George, there was a heavy police presence near Norfolk State University.

On Wednesday at 10:14 p.m., police responded to reported gunshots at the 1600 block of Brambleton Avenue, according to the Norfolk Police Department. After their investigations, detectives arrested Alicia N. Gaddis, 20, and Mekhi A. Tolber, 20.

Tolber is charged with reckless handling of a firearm, discharging a firearm in a public place and shooting from a vehicle, according to NPD. Gaddis is charged with possession of a firearm by a felon.

NSU said neither Tolber nor Gaddis are students at the university.

Police said there were no injuries.

Gaddis and Tolber are currently being held in Norfolk City Jail without bond.
