NORFOLK, Va. - Norfolk Police are investigating a double shooting that took place Thursday afternoon in Wards Corner.
A call came in at 2:52 p.m., for a shooting at E Little Creek Road and Granby Street.
According to police, Johnathan D. Clark, 19, of Norfolk, has been pronounced dead and a 17-year-old who was with Clark at the time of the shooting was found with gunshot wounds and was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Another shooting took place about half an hour after at Fenner Gardens Apartments.Three men were pronounced dead at the scene and two other people were taken to the hospital.
“With two separate incidents occurring so close together in such a short amount of time, it is understandable for there to be heightened concern among our residents; however, I want to reassure both of these communities that the Norfolk Police Department is working hard tonight to catch those responsible for both of these acts,” said Interim Chief Goldsmith”
Detectives say these two incidents are not related.
The Norfolk Police Department is continuing to investigate both of these incidents.
