PORTSMOUTH, Va. – Business owners in Olde Towne Portsmouth are stepping up their game and hoping for lots of shoppers this weekend for Small Business Saturday.

News 3 walked around High Street on Friday for a preview of what’s planned. Some stores will have live music outside, and one even has the Grinch posing for photos.

At Twisted Art and More, customers can take advantage of walk-in art sessions for kids as well as adults. There’s also arts and crafts made by more than 50 local artisans - everything from handmade soaps to bow ties to jewelry and even blankets and scarves made of alpaca fleece.

“It’s been a very hard year for the store. We have a couple of artisans that make masks and for a while there, that was all we were selling,” said Sandra Cowley.

Next door is a quaint store called Little Shoppes on High. They sell women’s and children’s clothing, doll outfits, toys, even mulling spices.
