NORFOLK, Va. - Due to the ongoinng coronavirus pandemic, the Norfolk Redevelopment and Housing Authority is waiving late fees for their Low Income Public Housing and Project Based Voucher residents and offering a discounted online rent payment fee for debit card payments.
“We want residents to know that we are taking this matter seriously and are doing the best we can to be flexible this during this challenging time,” says NRHA Executive Director Ron Jackson.
NRHA is waiving late fees from March through June 2020. While all residents are still required to pay their rent, they will not incur late fees.
The agency is encouraging all Low Income Public Housing and Project Based residents to contact their property managers if they are having difficulty paying rent due to loss of working hours or employment.
NRHA has also ceased all evictions until further notice.

Additionally, NRHA has partnered with their online rent payment vendor, Rent Payment Powered by Yapstone, to offer a discounted fee on online debit card payments. The fee, originally $5.95, is now $3.95. Residents can access the online rent payment option here.
NRHA will continue to monitor conditions and revise its policies as needed. Updates will be distributed directly to residents and made available to the public via the Authority’s website and social media accounts.
