Schools in Norfolk celebrating National Read Across America Day

NORFOLK, Va. - Norfolk Public Schools will celebrate National Read Across America Day on Monday.

Several Norfolk schools are set to participate in the national day and kick off Literacy Week.

Jacox Elementary will celebrate the day with a vocabulary parade!

Primrose School at Cahoon will celebrate by donating 269 books to Children’s Hospital of The King’s Daughters. The Mayor of Chesapeake, Richard West, will be visiting the school to read to the Kindergarten classes at 9 a.m.!

Read Across America Day is also known as Dr. Seuss Day, celebrating the author's birthday.

The yearly observance was created by the National Education Association.
