PORTSMOUTH, Va. - Portsmouth Fire, Rescue and Emergency Services responded to a house fire in the Port Norfolk section of Portsmouth early Sunday morning.
According to fire officials, multiple calls for the fire on Virginia Avenue came in beginning at 12:16 a.m.
When crews arrived, they found heavy smoke and flames coming from three sides of a single-story residence. Crews also noted downed electrical power lines, and Dominion Power was asked to respond to the scene.
Due to heavy fire and structural damage to the home, crews extinguished the fire from the home's exterior.
The fire was called under control at 1 a.m. No injuries to civilians or firefighters were reported.
The fire's cause is under investigation by the Fire Marshal's office.
