VIRGINIA BEACH, Va.— A downed wire disturbing a local business is now a problem of the past.
The Veterinary Hospital of Virginia Beach spent weeks trying to get a wire that was hanging in front of their business fixed, and Monday was the day they had been waiting for.
“The line was dangling there, and I was just concerned if somebody walks by and pulls on it,” said Dr. Andrew Silverstone.
Silverstone said he started making calls around Christmas Eve, but it wasn’t until News 3 took action to get answers that anything was done.
“Calling these various utilities companies — they certainly took the report. They assured me that they would take care of it and ultimately, I think it took some more nudging from Channel 3 to let them know there was something here that needed to be fixed,” he said.
News 3 contacted Dominion Energy, Verizon Wireless and Cox Communications Monday to figure out whose line is it anyway after Silverstone expressed concern that nothing was being done.
“I sent a message to Channel 3 to see if your station might have some contacts - just push this along to get it taken care of so it doesn’t become a problem for somebody to get hurt,” said Silverstone.
All three companies sent people out to look at the issue Monday morning.
Dominion tied the line up as a courtesy, so it was no longer a safety issue, and a Cox serviceman came out to fix their wire.
“If you need to turn to Channel 3, you know certainly it can make a difference,” he said.
