NORFOLK, Va. — It's almost time for Nauticus' annual Homeschool Day, and they're celebrating with discounted admission!

To support and celebrate the families, students, and teachers who have persevered throughout the 2020-2021 school year amid the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, Nauticus is offering discounted admission during its annual Homeschool Day on Friday, February 12 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Special pricing is $12 per adult and $10 per child plus tax. Teachers who are licensed in Virginia and North Carolina will receive free single admission.

Special “STEM to Stern” programs will focus on science, technology, engineering and math in the maritime world, and admission includes access to Nauticus’ newest exhibition, "Planet or Plastic?" This acclaimed National Geographic exhibit is making its U.S. museum debut.

“Nauticus is all about engaging, interactive education,” said Nauticus Executive Director Stephen E. Kirkland. “We’re reducing our admission, swinging open our doors, and inviting the community to come join us for a really special day.”

“Go Green for Valentine’s Day" is another featured program in which visitors will discover green alternative gifts for the upcoming holiday. Families can create their own card or art using upcycled paper and learn how to choose bouquets of local wildflowers instead of roses. Additionally, the first 50 visitors will receive a reusable drawstring bag with special discounts to the museum café and gift shop.

Visit Nauticus' official website for more information and to reserve tickets online.

Nauticus, which is located at 1 Waterside Drive in Downtown Norfolk, is following all COVID-19 protocols. Capacity will be limited to 30%, and masks are required for all visitors ages 5 and up.
