AVON, N.C. - Months after being severely damaged, the Avon Fishing Pier is now open for the summer.
The owners made the announcement on Facebook Friday.
Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, visitors are reminded to wear masks while in the pier house and to practice social distancing while on the pier out of concern for the public's safety.
The pier was damaged in October 2019 after storms and high tides swept across Cape Hatteras. According to theowners,a recent Nor’easter is what did the damage.
