VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. - A Suffolk man was charged after an early-Saturday morning shooting at the Virginia Beach Oceanfront.
According to police, at approximately 2:04 am, officers were patrolling the Oceanfront area when they heard gunfire in the 200 block of 18th street.
The officers located a man suffering from multiple gunshot wounds, and provided life-saving first aid to the victim as EMS was being called. The victim was taken to a local hospital for treatment.
Additional officers located and detained a possible suspect without incident.
The detained person, 26-year-old Kashaun Ricks from Suffolk, Virginia, was arrested and charged with felonious assault, using a firearm in commission of a felony and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
This case is being investigated by members of the department's homicide unit.
