SMITHFIELD, Va. — A man will spend 45 years behind bars for a deadly shooting at Smithfield 7-Eleven in 2019.
Rojawn Orlander Warren, 22, was sentenced Monday to 70 years with 25 years suspended for his role in the shooting, which killed 21-year-old Desmond Smith.
Warren pleaded guilty to first-degree murder and several other charges last October.
Georgette C. Phillips, who currently serves as the Commonwealth's Attorney for Isle of Wight County, provided a brief statement to News 3 after the hearing. "I am thankful that we were able to conclude the case and the family of Mr. Smith was finally able to get closure," Phillips said.
An email sent to Warren's attorney seeking comment was not immediately returned.
