Man arrested, charged with second-degree murder in James City Co. homicide

JAMES CITY Co., Va. - The James City County Police Department arrested a man on charges of second degree murder after a man was found dead near a Lightfoot motel Saturday.

According to police, on August 29, officers responded to the Motel Zuma on Richmond Road and found 45-year-old Terrence Orlando Pressey dead in a grassy area next to the parking lot. His death was determined to be a homicide.

Michael Dean Slye, 59, was arrested in connection with Pressey's death.

Police said a preliminary investigation revealed that Slye killed Pressey sometime on the evening of Friday, August 28 following a verbal altercation.

Slye, who is a resident and employee of the motel, is being held at the Virginia Peninsula Regional Jail without bond.
