A number of school districts in Hampton Roads have canceled all afterschool activities and field trips due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Below is the complete list of cancellations:

Norfolk

Norfolk Public Schools said on its website that effective immediately, all field trips and extracurricular activities are canceled until further notice.

"We realize that some activities were planned this afternoon and evening, and we apologize for any inconvenience you may experience because of the last-minute nature of this notification," the school district's website said.

Williamsburg-James City County

According to WJCCPS, afterschool activities, field trips and sports competitions are canceled beginning March 13 through April 17. The school district is now making adjustments to school operations in order to limit student and staff travel while also minimizing outside access to school buildings.

The school district is "developing resources" for ongoing learning in the event of an extended school closure.

Hampton

Beginning March 14, all Hampton City Schools field trips, athletic games and athletic practices are canceled until further notice. According to the school district, after-school instructional programs and clubs will continue as scheduled.

Virginia Beach

Virginia Beach City Public Schools will also postpone all after-school extracurricular and evening activities until further notice, with the exception of instructional support programs (e.g. tutoring). This includes all athletics, school performances, dances and other activities. All field trips have now been postponed or canceled.

Isle of Wight County

Isle of Wight County Schools have canceled all field trips, school expos and programs until further notice. Volunteer arrangements in the district's schools are being suspended temporarily, and while sporting events are still scheduled, attendance is restricted to immediate family for home and visiting teams.

This is a developing story.
