PORTSMOUTH, Va. — Portsmouth police are investigating a gunshot wound incident that occurred near the 600 block of Edwards Street around 12:47 a.m.
Police say a 14-year-old girl has a non-life-threatening injury.

She was transported to a local hospital for treatment.
This is the third reported shooting on Edwards Street within the last month. Police say two women were shot in July and taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
One resident who has lived in the area for more than 30 years said hearing gunshots are a regular occurrence.
"Pow, pow, pow," Johnny Williams, a Portsmouth resident said. "Constantly in the daytime and nighttime."
"What do you do when you when those gunshots?" News 3's Leondra Head asked Williams.
"I get on the floor or get on the ground," Williams said. "They were shooting Saturday. I had to get on the ground right in front of the building in broad daylight."
