VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. — On Tuesday, members of the Virginia Task Force 2 returned to the 757 after spending a week in Florida helping hurricane victims.

Following Hurricane Milton's landfall in Florida, members of Virginia Task Force Two told me they completed multiple missions, including water rescues.

On Oct. 6, 17 Task Force 2 Mission Ready Package Water Rescue team members drove down to Florida to help local and federal agencies respond to Hurricane Milton.

Task Force 2 teamed up with six other units and helped over 200 people.

While in Florida the team said they assisted with search and water rescues.

Task force leader Michael Carter told us there was significant flood damage done to one county, outside of Tampa.

"Pasco County had significant flooding damage and for about two days because they had its act actually after the storm had some flood rising so from that point that's kind of what our team is built for the MRPW portion stands for 'Mission Ready Package Water' so we can go in and assist with water which you see is what those boats are back there," explained Carter.

Virginia Task Force 2 is one of 28 FEMA Urban Search and Rescue Teams positioned across the country that help in the aftermath of disasters.
