NEWPORT NEWS, Va. — A tractor-trailer overturned Thursday morning, becoming fully engulfed in flames on I-64 eastbound by the Jefferson Avenue overpass.

The driver was able to escape the tractor-trailer and no injuries were reported.

Virginia State Police say the incident occurred around 7:25 a.m.

The fuel tank ignited and Newport News Fire and Rescue are on scene assisting.

One lane is open near the incident to relieve traffic, but traffic north of Ft. Eustis Boulevard is being detoured due to the fire.
