Hampton man arrested on multiple charges following shooting that left woman injured

HAMPTON, Va. - The Hampton Police Division arrested a man in connection with a Friday shooting that left a woman injured.

According to police, at approximately 4:10 p.m. Friday, dispatch received a call in reference to a shooting that occurred in the 2700 block of North Armistead Avenue.

When officers arrived, they located a 24-year-old woman who had been struck by gunfire. She was taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Officers learned that the victim was engaged in an altercation with a man she knew when he produced a firearm and shot her.

Investigators have arrested Javon Armstead, a 26-year-old Hampton man, in connection with this incident. Armstead has been charged with one count of maiming, one count of using a firearm in commission of a felony, one count of discharging a firearm from a vehicle and one count of discharging a firearm in public.

Armstead remains in custody at the Hampton City Jail.
