HAMPTON ROADS, Va. - Governor Northam announced during Tuesday's press conference that the Commonwealth experienced one storm related death after Isaias passed through the area Monday night.
Northam says the death occurred in in Lancaster County.
Major flooding and property damage occurred in Suffolk, Lancaster County, Courtland, and Gloucester County.
State and local officials are currently assessing the damages to see if the state qualifies for federal assistance.
Northam says Dominion Energy has marked Isaias as top 10 storms ever in terms of power outages.
During the briefing, Northam stressed the importance of having a hurricane evacuation plan and needed supplies.
The federal government agreed to cover most of the cost for the Virginia National Guard that helped assist during the storm.
