VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. - Officials confirmed that electronic pollbooks were not working properly at voting in stations in Virginia Beach earlier Tuesday.

Pollbooks are the computers that poll workers use to verify that voters are registered and voting at the appropriate location.

Donna Patterson, the Director of Elections with the Virginia Beach Registrar’s Office, says that all 100 voting locations experienced a malfunction Tuesday morning.

“We’ve deployed 14 teams to address the issue, and we expect them to be back up and running in an hour or two,” said Patterson. “In the meantime, voters are being checked in and verified by hand."

While the issue was being worked on, voters cast their votes with Provisional Ballots.

Patterson later told News 3 more than half of the pollbooks were functioning normally by noon and all of them were working before 2:30 p.m.
