North Carolina reports 1,579 COVID-19 cases since Thursday as state test positivity rises

The North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services released their daily update involving COVID-19 cases within the state.

As of Friday there are now 199,768 cases, 903 people hospitalized and 3,409 COVID-19 related deaths.

That is 1,579 new cases, one additional hospitalization and 53 additional deaths from Thursday.

A total of 2,903,054 total COVID-19 tests have been completed in North Carolina.

On Thursday the percent of positive COVID-19 tests was 4.8% and Friday it went up by .4% to 5.2%.
