NORFOLK, Va. – The City of Norfolk’s vaccine hotline (664-SHOT) and hands-on preregistration help at recreation centers will close permanently Friday.
At 4:00 p.m. on February 26, the hotline and preregistration sites will close after the number of residents seeking help has steadily declined since last week after the Vaccinate Virginia website and call center announcement.

City employees have been helping residents with preregistration since January 25 when Norfolk Department of Public Health moved to Phase 1b.
“I’m extremely proud of all the city employees who have helped our residents during this time. When Vaccinate Virginia was announced February 10, my top priority was ensuring our residents experienced a smooth transition to the state system. We closely monitored the transfer of Norfolk preregistration information and I am pleased to report no issues were found. Now is the time to refocus our support of the Norfolk Department of Public Health and help them with other vaccination needs,” said Dr. Chip Filer, City Manager.
Since January 25, officials say more than 8,400 residents called the Norfolk Vaccine Hotline for preregistration help and information. Nearly 1,000 have visited the recreation centers since February 10.
Residents who preregister locally through Friday at 4:00 p.m. will have their information uploaded to the state system within 24 hours.
