NORFOLK, Va. - Norfolk Public Schools is set to add five more meal distribution sites to their current program.

Beginning on May 11, NPS will add five more meal distribution sites to the current 12 sites and three locations for school bus deliveries. The new sites are: Crossroads School, Little Creek Primary, Ocean View Elementary, Tanners Creek Elementary, and Tidewater Park Elementary.

“We continue to see an increased demand for meals, so adding these new sites will allow Norfolk Public Schools to serve a greater number of families who need this service,” said John W. Hazelette, acting deputy superintendent of operations.

On May 11, the meal distribution schedule will change to Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. Distribution times of 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., will remain the same.

The meal bags will contain multiple meals to cover Tuesdays and Thursdays as well as the weekends. This change is being made to limit the exposure of school nutrition staff, students, and the public to each other and ensure a safer process for distribution.

The 12 current food distribution sites will remain.
