Hampton Roads reports another day of zero COVID-19 deaths

The Virginia Department of Health released their daily updated numbers involving COVID-19 cases within the state.

According to their website, there are now 129,289 total cases, 123,488 of which are confirmed and 5,801 are probable. There are 2,697 total COVID-19 related deaths, with 2,564 being confirmed and 133 being probable.

The case numbers are up by 882, and deaths are up by 11 since Tuesday. Our local area saw another day of zero deaths reported. Hampton Roads and surrounding cities did report 165 new cases with Virginia Beach seeing the highest increase of 78 from Tuesday. Our area's local cases made up 18.7% of the state's total increase.

A total of 1,694,203 COVID-19 PCR tests have now been given in Virginia. The Western Tidewater District, which consists of Franklin, Suffolk and Isle of Wight, dipped just under 12% in test percent positivity. It is still the highest rate reported in the region. Virginia's overall COVID-19 test percent positivity rate has made little change over the last few weeks with it now being reported at 7.6%.

The Virginia Hospital & Healthcare Association also updated their numbers. As of Wednesday, there are 800 people currently being hospitalized, confirmed with COVID-19. There are 272 people receiving inpatient hospital care whose test results are still pending. Combined, there are a total of 1,072 being hospitalized for coronavirus related illness. That's 21 more hospitalizations from Tuesday.

The total statewide COVID-19 hospitalizations that have been reported over time is now 10,008.

252 confirmed positive patients, and those whose test results are pending, are currently hospitalized in the ICU.

121 hospital patients, both confirmed for coronavirus, and those with test results pending, are currently on a ventilator. 599 ventilators are being used in hospitals out of the 3,091 in the state - that's 19% usage.

15,967 patients who have been hospitalized for coronavirus have been discharged.
