Hampton Roads continues to see high daily increase in coronavirus cases

The Virginia Department of Health released their daily updated numbers involving coronavirus cases within the state.

According to their website, there are now 63,203 total cases, 60,528 of which are confirmed and 2,675 are probable. There are 1,786 total coronavirus related deaths, with 1,681 being confirmed and 105 being probable.

The case numbers are up by 416, and deaths are up by 23 since Tuesday.

The Virginia Hospital & Healthcare Association also updated their numbers. As of Wednesday, there are 535 people currently being hospitalized for coronavirus. There are 357 people currently receiving inpatient hospital care whose test results are pending. 205 confirmed positive patients, and those whose test results are pending, are currently hospitalized in the ICU.

95 hospital patients, both confirmed for coronavirus, and those with test results pending, are currently on a ventilator. 645 ventilators are being used in hospitals out of the 3,033 in the state - that's 21% usage.

8,131 patients who have been hospitalized for coronavirus have been discharged.

  • Chesapeake 925 cases, 137 hospitalized, 20 deaths (+30 cases, +7 hospitalizations from Tuesday)
  • Accomack 1,043 cases, 72 hospitalized, 14 deaths (+1 case, +1 hospitalization from Tuesday)
  • Northampton 269 cases, 40 hospitalized, 28 deaths (+0 cases from Tuesday)
  • Hampton 336 cases, 41 hospitalized, 5 deaths (+8 cases from Tuesday)
  • Norfolk 934 cases, 107 hospitalized, 10 deaths (+19 cases, +2 hospitalizations, +1 death from Tuesday)
  • James City County 265 cases, 58 hospitalized, 15 deaths (+2 cases from Tuesday)
  • Newport News 535 cases, 44 hospitalized, 10 deaths (+12 cases form Tuesday)
  • Poquoson 19 cases, 2 hospitalized, 0 deaths (+0 cases from Tuesday)
  • Williamsburg 61 cases, 12 hospitalized, 6 deaths (+1 case from Tuesday)
  • York County 115 cases, 10 hospitalized, 3 deaths (+0 cases from Tuesday)
  • Portsmouth 497 cases, 69 hospitalized, 16 deaths (+15 cases, +1 hospitalization from Tuesday)
  • Gloucester 49 cases, 9 hospitalized, 1 deaths (+0 cases from Tuesday)
  • Virginia Beach 1,203 cases, 119 hospitalized, 29 deaths (+27 cases, +1 hospitalization from Tuesday)
  • Franklin City 52 cases, 4 hospitalized, 2 deaths (+1 case, +1 hospitalization from Tuesday)
