CHESAPEAKE, Va. - Chesapeake Public Schools is keeping residents informed about positive COVID-19 cases by providing updates online.

Officials said they post the total number of employees and students who have tested positive for COVID-19 on their website each week.

If you click on the "new case data" it will open up a window with each weekly report.

Officials said as of Friday the most current report lists nine employees, zero on-campus students, and three students learning at-home who have tested positive for COVID-19.

The Director of Communications said, "We understand this information may cause some uneasiness; however, it is important to note that the overall risk of exposure to our school community remains low. Our buildings will remain open and there are no adjustments to our instructional model at this time. Any close contacts associated with these cases have been notified directly and have received guidance from the Chesapeake Health Department. In addition, in situations where individuals may have been on site, any frequently touched surfaces, such as desks or workspaces that may have been used by these individuals, have been thoroughly deep-cleaned by our custodial staff."
