CHESAPEAKE, Va. - The Chesapeake Police Department announced one of its lieutenants has been arrested on multiple charges including abduction and rape.

Lt. Sean Maddox was arrested Tuesday and has been charged with Abduction with the Intent to Defile, Rape, two counts of Forcible Sodomy, two counts of Threaten Bodily Harm and two counts of Stalking following a criminal investigation.

Court documents state Maddox was having a relationship with a woman who told him on April 10 she wanted to end things and see other people.

According to the documents, on May 3, Maddox texted the woman saying, “You have no idea how hard I try to control myself and not do bad things," and clarified what he meant by saying, “Hurt. You.” and added, “And it’s still an option. Keep your head on a swivel.”

Police executed a search warrant for Maddox’s cellphone last Monday, three weeks after the threatening text messages were sent.

Police arrested Maddox Tuesday. Court documents say he's charged with crimes against a person with the same initials as the woman who wanted to end the relationship.

Court documents state Maddox is married with two children. He started working with the department in February 2008.

He’s being held in jail without bond.

Maddox is scheduled to appear in court for a preliminary hearing on September 22.
