RICHMOND, Va. -- Nothing suspicious was found after Capitol Police investigated a bomb threat at the Virginia Supreme Court Building in Richmond Friday afternoon.
The building, located at 100 N 9th Street in downtown Richmond, was evacuated while crews investigated the threat.
Virginia State Capitol Alert Network issued an alert just before 1 p.m., urging the public to avoid the area due to the threat.
K-9 units completed a sweep of the building and found nothing suspicious.
The all-clear was given just after 2:30 p.m. and employees were allowed to re-enter the building.
The threat comes following "credible threats" made against state capitals across the country. The City of Richmond declared a local state of emergency due to the potential for "civil unrest" following the U.S. Capitol Attack.
Capitol Police say an investigation into the bomb threat is ongoing.
