42 food distribution sites available to Virginia Beach students

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. - School districts across Hampton Roads are doing all they can to make sure no child goes hungry while being switched to online schooling.

There are currently 42 food distribution sites set up throughout Virginia Beach. This entire week, News 3 has been seeing similar sites in Portsmouth, Newport News and Suffolk.

Virginia Beach City School leaders say in order to maintain the safety guidelines recommended by the CDC - meals will be provided using a drive by or pickup model.

They will be bagged and include both a breakfast and lunch. If anything were to change, like time or locations, parents will be notified through an app called AlertNow, on the Virginia Beach School website and through the school district’s social media sites as well.

Virginia Beach Public Schools announced new updates to preparations being made for school closures. VBPS says it will provide free bagged lunches at the following locations:

  • Bayside 6th Grade Campus
  • Birdneck Elementary
  • Brookwood Elementary
  • College Park Elementary
  • Cooke Elementary
  • Green Run Elementary
  • Holland Elementary
  • Kempsville Meadows Elementary
  • King's Grant Elementary
  • Luxford Elementary
  • Lynnhaven Elementary
  • Malibu Elementary
  • Newtown Elementary
  • Parkway Elementary
  • Pembroke Meadows Elementary
  • Point O'View Elementary
  • Rosemont Elementary
  • Seatack Elementary
  • Tallwood Elementary
  • Thalia Elementary
  • White Oaks Elementary
  • Williams Elementary
  • Windsor Oaks Elementary
