PORTSMOUTH, Va. — A 16-year-old is charged with murder in connection to a deadly shooting last month in Portsmouth, police said.
In addition to a second-degree murder charge, Portsmouth Police said the 16-year-old male is charged with malicious shooting, concealing compounding evidence, accessory after the fact and possession of a firearm by a minor. He had initially been a person of interest in the case.
It all stems from a shooting that happened on Dale Drive on Sept. 24. Ashanti Britt, 22, died at the hospital from injuries sustained in the shooting.
Investigators arrested 19-year-old Elijah Drew in connection to the case. Drew is charged with concealing evidence.
Police said they're also looking for 26-year-old Herschel Watkins, Jr.Watkins faces four charges including second-degree murder, but they have not been able to locate him.
