BATTLE CREEK, Mich. — A group of ducklings is safe thanks to the rescue efforts of the Battle Creek Fire Department!

Firefighters say the little ducks were trapped in a storm drain along Beckley Road Tuesday morning.

We’re told the ducklings were reunited with Mama Duck.

All Species Kinship (A.S.K.) says the mother has an injured wing and is undergoing rehabilitation along with her ducklings. They thank BCFD and the Department of Public Works for notifying them of the injury and waiting for their volunteers to collect them.

While BCFD initially stated the ducks were being moved to Irving Pond, A.S.K. says they asked them to refrain from doing so due to the poor water quality and overall risk of disease transmission.

A.S.K. wishes to remind the public to refrain from attempting to reunite separated ducklings with their mother unless they are certain of who the mother is. We’re told ducks may attempt to drown ducklings who are not theirs.
