HAMPTON ROADS, Va. - Social distancing doesn't have to mean disconnecting for those looking for love.
"Actually, right now is the perfect time for daters," said Alasha Bennett, founder of Dating Mechanics University in Virginia Beach.

Bennett told News 3 the "stay at home" order is the perfect environment for singles to swipe, swoon and establish a good communication foundation.
"Being able to emotionally bond with someone before you take into consideration the chemistry or physical part is always about building that foundation," said Bennett
Dating apps like Tinder, Bumble and Hinge have reported a surge in downloads and video app usage during the month of March, according to market intelligence company Sensor Tower.
Bennett said since you can't physically meet your love interest, the apps are great for slowing things down, learning one another and asking questions.
"It could be, 'Where is this relationship going? What do you want in the future?' or even simple things like, 'What is your favorite color?'" she explained. "Just think - it will all be more exciting when you meet in person, know them well and can have them in your presence."
Bennett says it's important right now to use FaceTime, Zoom, Skype and other video chats to spice things up.
"When you go on the video chat, make a recipe together, get dressed up for a dinner date, play games online - just get creative," said Bennett.
Bennett says for those already in a marriage or long-distance relationship, that bond building and constant communication is key.
"On a daily basis, ask your partner, 'How are you feeling? How you coping? Is there anything I can do for you?'"
