HAMPTON ROADS, Va. - Virginia Beach native and music mogul, Pharrell Williams, is set to premiere a gospel series based in the Hampton Roads area on Netflix.
The gospel series, "Voices of Fire," will follow Pharrell's uncle, Bishop Ezekiel Williams, a well-respected local musician, around Hampton Roads to create one of the world's most inspiring gospel choirs, Variety reports.
Pharrell announced the series virtually during Essence Festival on Sunday.
The bishop and his team will discover talent in the area with a strong belief that diverse backstories will give their voices a greater meaning collectively. They are searching for a group for people of all ages, ethnicities and backgrounds.
According to Variety, Pharrell will serve as an executive producer through his company, I Am Other. Mimi Valdés of I Am Other will also serve as an executive producer with Arthur Smith and Frank Sinton of A. Smith & Co. along with Bianca Barnes-Williams.
Pharrell is also reportedly developing a feature-length musical about Juneteenth with Netflix, Variety also reports.
