HAMPTON ROADS, Va. - Suicide kills more people than car accidents, more police than crime, and more firefighters than fire. The good news is that suicide is preventable, there is help, there is hope, and there is treatment for those who are suffering in silence. Dr. Kelly Posner Gerstenhaber, the founder of The Columbia Lighthouse Project and creator of the Columbia-Suicide Severity Rating Scale, and Dr. Keita Franklin, co-director of The Columbia Lighthouse Project, discuss the importance of screening for suicide to get help for those who need it.
