Newport News Police mourn officer’s death, provide more details of deadly incident

Maddie Kirker is the Meteorologist for News 3 at Noon and 4pm. She joined the First Warning Weather Team April 2019.

Prior to working at News 3, Maddie spent three years as the Weekend Morning Meteorologist at FOX21 News in Colorado Springs. Before covering blizzards and wildfires in southern Colorado, Maddie spent three years tracking tropical storms as the Morning Meteorologist at ABC15 in Myrtle Beach, SC. Maddie started her career back in 2011 at WCBI in Columbus, MS where she gained experience tracking severe storms and tornadoes for two years as the Weekend Meteorologist.

Maddie graduated in 2011 from Mississippi State University in Starkville, MS and holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Broadcast Meteorology. While in college she was on the Mississippi State Championship forecasting team and won an undergrad award as one of the best student forecasters in the country.

When Maddie is not working she enjoys traveling, hiking and training with her Golden Retriever, Chester. Chester works as a Therapy Dog with the internationally recognized Go Team Therapy, Crisis and Airport Dogs Inc. and visits schools, hospitals and nursing homes. In addition to being a therapy dog, Chester takes part in Agility.
