Hi Hampton Roads!
I’m excited to be telling your stories at News 3.
The first thing people always ask me about when they meet me is my name. If you’re wondering too, it’s Nigerian. I’m first-generation American and my full name is Kofoworola which means “doesn’t buy wealth with money.”
My love of visual storytelling took me to South Bend, Indiana where I started my career. I covered a range of news— from the 2016 Republican primary campaign to live community events, and I was the first local reporter to speak to the relatives of the victims of the Kalamazoo Uber shooter. After two years of braving lake-effect snow, I’m thrilled to be back South and I look forward to much milder winters!
My newsroom experience began with several semesters as an intern. I worked for local and national news outlets in our nation’s capital including “Meet the Press,” Fox 5 DC and “USA Today,” while pursuing my journalism degree at Howard University.
I grew up in the suburbs of Atlanta in Kennesaw, Georgia so the sweeter the tea, the better!
I love thrilling adventures like skydiving and scuba diving, but I’m usually spending quality time with friends in my free time.
I’m always looking for great stories and new places to eat.
Shoot me your suggestions on social media or send me an email at Kofo.Lasaki@WTKR.com.
