    Update: Norfolk Police Fugitive Squad along with the Capital Area Task Force, which encompasses U.S. Marshals, Chesapeake Sheriff, Portsmouth Police, and Newport News Police arrested 26-year-old William A. Hamlin Jr. of Chesapeake in the shooting death of 17-year-old Joel Green.  Hamlin has been charged with 2nd Degree Murder, Use of a Firearm in Commission of a Felony, and Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon.   • UPDATE: Road re-opens after natural gas line ruptures in Suffolk neighborhood

    UPDATE: Crews have cleared the scene and the leak has been secured. The road has now reopened to traffic. Repairs and resurfacing efforts will continue.  Suffolk, Va. – Suffolk Police have opened one lane into Burnetts Mill following a gas leak this morning. School buses were able to pick up students, according to a spokesperson with Suffolk Public Schools.  Virginia Natural Gas crews contained the leak earlier this morning, but no word yet on how long repairs will take.     Virginia Beach, Virginia – A man is in the hospital after being shot at aQua Lounge on Virginia Beach Boulevard around 2:00am. Police received the call at 2:16 a.m. The caller reported a victim suffering from a gunshot wound at aQua Lounge. Police arrived on scene and found a man who had been shot.   • Crews investigate cause of Chesapeake warehouse fire

    Chesapeake, Va. – Authorities are still working to find out the cause of a fire that destroyed a city warehouse in Chesapeake on Wednesday. Executive Boulevard in Greenbrier was shut down for hours as crews worked to put out the fire. The warehouse belongs to the public works department for the city and had small equipment, paint and fuel inside.   • Update: Man shot wife, killed himself in double shooting at Norfolk apartment complex

    Norfolk, Va. – A man is dead and a woman is in the hospital after a double shooting in a Norfolk apartment complex. Police say the initial call about a shooting at The Pointe at Pickett Farm complex on Greenplain Road came in shortly before 5:30am Wednesday morning. When police arrived they found a man and a woman suffering from gunshot wounds. The man, identified as 37-year-old Timothy D. Vines,  was pronounced dead at the scene by Norfolk Fire Rescue. […]

The executive director for Newport News/Williamsburg International Airport says People Express can no longer operate out of the terminal building.     Update: All lanes of I-64 are back open. Chesapeake, Virginia – One person was killed in a vehicle crash and fire around 4:15am on I-64 East at Battlefield Boulevard. State Police say the vehicle ran off the roadway and struck the bridge, causing the vehicle to catch fire. The driver was the only person inside the vehicle.   • Early dismissal at Lake Taylor High School due to power outage

    Norfolk, Va. – Dominion Virginia Power responded to Lake Taylor High School this morning to repair a cable that failed around 6:30 a.m., causing an outage to the school. Students arrived to the school this morning, and found that there was no power. Students who drove to school were dismissed.
