Investigators say it was a horrific scene last night as they discovered the bodies of a man, believed to be a local pastor, a woman, and 3 elementary school aged children. Investigators say teen lived at the home and may be a family member. Last night, investigators say they also found several weapons inside the home, including an assault rifle.

  • USS Nicholas to deploy to Africa

    On the military watch, during their deployment, a crew of about 200 sailors will help fight against piracy near the Horn of Africa. If you remember over the summer, NewsChannel Three’s Mike Mather was in Mayport, Florida as the Nicholas hauled in a massive amount of drugs, captured from drug smugglers. The crew of the USS Nicholas set sail Saturday out of Naval Station Norfolk.The Guided Missile Frigate is heading to the US 5th Fleet area near the Persian Gulf.

  • Funeral held for Chesapeake teenager

    In Norfolk, a Chesapeake teenager who was shot and killed last week was laid to rest Saturday. Family and friends of 17-year-old Clifton Little Junior filled the Metropolitan Funeral Home to say goodbye. Little was a football player at Green Run High School in Virginia Beach. He was shot around three in the afternoon at a housing complex off Greenleaf Drive in Norfolk last Saturday. Police have charged 18-year-old Kaleel Mayhan with murder.

  • Wilmington 10 pardoned after 40 years in North Carolina

    In North Carolina, after 40 years of struggle, a group of people known as the Wilmington 10 have finally gotten their names cleared.  The nine black men and one white woman were convicted back in 1972 of the firebombing of a Wilmington grocery store during days of race rioting.  Their convictions were overturned years later after findings of prosecutorial misconduct.   • Man in custody after Norfolk domestic situation

    Police surrounded a home in Norfolk Sunday afternoon. They were called to a house on East Chester Street around 2 and had to bring in a crisis negotiator.Police have not released many details as to what happened, but a man was taken into custody and a baby was taken right from that man’s arms.Witnesses say the incident closed off a part of the street for some time.No one was hurt.

    Pat McCrory has officially become North Carolina’s new governor.The former Charlotte mayor was sworn into office this afternoon in Raleigh.His wife was at his side as state Supreme Court Chief Justice Sarah Parker administered the oath of office.McCrory is the state’s first Republican governor in 20 years.A public inauguration is scheduled for next Saturday.
